Frequently asked questions about problems in our e-services

This may be due to a temporary disruption or that the Swedish Migration Agency's mobile operator is unable to deliver the text message for some reason.

This may be, for example, because the mobile operator responsible for the mobile number abroad does not deliver text messages from our sender MIGR. When you receive the text message it will not come from a number but will be a sender with letters, which some mobile operators may categorise as spam.

Examples of countries that we cannot send text messages to are Turkey and the Philippines.

To check why you are not receiving the SMS code, you first need to contact the operator responsible for the mobile number the code is to be sent to, to find out if they allow text messages from the sender MIGR.

If the mobile operator does not have any restrictions, you need to contact the Swedish Migration Agency's technical support for e-services in order to troubleshoot the problem. You can reach us at ‑  between and Monday to Friday. Select one (1) to reach the contact center and then select seven (7) to get to web support.

    • You that are a citizen from a country outside the EU and would like to work in Sweden need a work permit. Such an application needs to be made in the foreigner’s home country and the foreigner can only enter Sweden to work after being granted the permit from the Migration Board.

    The processing time for
    such an application takes time and may in the worst case be longer than one year before receiving a final decision from the Migration Agency.

By acting as a legal representative for the labor migrant and his employer, we will submit an application the Migration Board and expect a decision within ten working days if it is the first time the foreigner applies, and within 20 working days if it is an application to extend a current work permit.

    Family members of the foreigner will also be included in the certification if they apply at the same time. The certification also includes the application of a former student who had a residence permit in Sweden and is now applying for a work permit.

    This article has been updated.

    As of 16 December, there is a function in My Page that allows you to see the complete decision of the Swedish Migration Agency immediately, without waiting for it to be sent to you bygd post.

    To be able to see the complete decision in My Page, you must

    • have an e-ID
    • be the main recipient of the decision.

    Because you are the main recipient, the decision is sent directly to you as the individ the decision applies to, and not to an agent representing you.

    How it works

    When you log in to My Page with your e-ID, you will see a låda where you can confirm that you want to see the complete decision. You can then choose to download the decision in PDF format.

    My Page registers when you have retrieved the decision and that fryst vatten what counts as your notification date, i.e. the date from which you are deemed to have received the decision. If you have previously received the decision and therefore there fryst vatten already a notification date, the earlier date applies.
