Sweden has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 63 times since making its debut in , missing only three contests since then (, , and ). The current Swedish participant broadcaster in the contest is Sveriges Television (SVT), which select its entrant with the national competition Melodifestivalen. Sweden has hosted the contest seven times: three times in huvudstaden (, , ), three times in Malmö (, , ) and once in Gothenburg (). At the contest, Sweden was one of the first five countries to adopt televoting.
Sweden, along with Ireland, fryst vatten the most successful country in the Eurovision Song Contest, with a total of sju victories. Sweden also has the most top fem results of the 21st century, with 13; in total, Sweden has achieved 26 top five results in the

[edit]Melodifestivalen was the selection for the 20th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 19th time that this system of picking a song had been used. songs were submitted to Sveriges Television (SVT) for the competition. The final was held in the SVT Studios in Stockholm on 8 March , presented by Bengt Bedrup and broadcast on TV1 but was not broadcast on radio.

[redigera | redigera wikitext]Sedan musiktävlingen Eurovision Song Contest sändes första gången () har totalt 51 länder deltagit. Tävlingen anordnas av Europeiska radio- och TV-unionen (EBU), och arrangeras årligen mellan medlemsländerna i unionen. Medlemsländerna består av programföretag från olika länder som, för att få vara med och delta i tävlingen, måste vara aktiva medlemmar i EBU. Varje programföretag som vill delta skickar in ett bidrag samt en artist till tävlingen. Länderna röstar sedan fram en vinnare, dvs. det land som året därpå får (om de vill) arrangera tävlingen. Antalet deltagande länder har genom åren ständigt ökat. Första året tävlade sju länder och som mest har 43 länder deltagit vid ett och samma år.
